Dead Engine
A downloadable game for Windows
This is a vertical slice of the game that still isn't finished. It's missing various SFX, the music is obviously placeholder (unless I want to get sued), and there's a few little tweaks that need making (I want to add a 'first time bonus' clear to the missions, and a more friendly tutorial) but mostly, it's 'feature complete'.
Please plug in a gamepad and have it active when you open the game up, because this really does need a gamepad. It works with a keyboard but c'mon.
The 'Options' menu doesn't work yet. It's just there to placehold the title menu. Will get to that.
There's two separate downloads but they're both functionally the same. One of them (the smaller one) uses a modern 'thing' that I don't understand called Webview2, which is something to do with a tech included as standard in Microsoft Edge. It shouldn't require you to install anything new, you should already have it if you're on an updated version of Windows (not TOO updated, I'm still on Windows 10).
If you don't want to try that, or if it doesn't work, the 'Chunky version'' uses the older, more reliable nw.js export that Construct 3 has always used.
Both of them require 64-bit Windows. Please let me know about performance.

Yeah, it's real fun. drifting seems too quick, comparing to other arcade-ish games I played, there it takes at least 1.5x as long to turn.
camera should turn along with you much faster when drifting, it takes it a second or two to catch up, too long when I'm trying to hit some nearby zombies.
fix zombies spawning in the FOV of the player, it even happened like 4 meters from me.
possible gameplay idea: graveyard has more zombies but closes its gates for Y amount of time after you go there so you can't farm it all the time.
upgrades should be done directly from money, converting it to points is annoying.
quest dialogue should fully load on one "ok" press and skip to the next portion if you press "ok" again but not advance portions you haven't pressed "ok" imo. I didn't manage to read some of it.
fun and pretty cool music.
Oh that doesn't look good. And yeah, the copyrighted music is just for /agdg/ purposes, honestly. Will never make it out of our bubble. Good for 'setting a scene' for now.
